There is little more exciting than watching a young band commanding the stage and carrying the future of jazz in its capable hands. May we introduce you to BadBadNotGood, a group of Canadian musicians who met in college where they reveled in their shared love of hip-hop music. Their first album, released in 2010 when none of the musicians had yet achieved their 21st birthday, got this reaction from Dante Alighieri on Sputnickmusic, who called it, “ a welcome reinterpretation of modern jazz without the pretense of snotty wine parties and thick rimmed hipster dinosaurs.” BBNG is Matthew A. Tavares on keys, Alexander Sowinski, drums/samples, Chester Hansen, bass, and Leland Witty on sax, flute, viola and guitar. Prepare to have your minds blown, folks. The future is now and it’s BadBadNotGood.
