Jazz vocalist Veronica Swift is no stranger to the Fred Shellman Memorial Stage. In fact, she first appeared at the Telluride Jazz Festival at the age of 10 with Dave Adam’s Young Razzcals Jazz Project and with saxophonist Richie Cole. In 2011 she sang with that year’s Guest of Honor, Paquito D’Rivera, and by 2016 she appeared here on her own with the Eric Gunnison Trio. In a sense she’s grown up right before our eyes. The child of touring musicians — her father is jazz pianist Hod O’Brien and her mother is jazz vocalist and educator Stephanie Nakasian — she is no stranger to the road. She’s put in the miles with Benny Green Trio, Wynton Marsalis and Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, and Chris Botti, as well as high profile appearances in China and Switzerland at jazz events. We’re delighted she said yes, once again, to sharing her talent with us in the mountains.
